When will Jessica Pegula vs Alexandra Eala final be played? The Mubadala DC Open 2026 women’s singles final has been postponed due to severe weather in Washington. The new date and time has been confirmed by tournament officials, check it below.

The Mubadala Citi DC open women’s singles final between Jessica Pegula and rising star Alexandra Eala has been put on hold. After fans waited through hours of weather delays, the championship showdown was postponed on Sunday. Pegula and Eala were battling hard on the stadium court, but Mother Nature ultimately had other plans. Check the new match timing for women’s singles final below.

Why was the Jessica Pegula vs Alexandra Eala final postponed?

The main reason for the sudden cancellation was severe weather. Thunderstorms, heavy rain, and lightning moved into the Washington area, making the courts unsafe and unplayable. Organisers originally tried to dry the courts and resume play, but the rain kept coming back, undoing the crew’s hard work.

Before the stoppage, the match was turning into a great contest. After a long three-hour delay just to get the match started, Pegula won the first set 6-4. Eala found her rhythm in the second set and was leading 2-1. They played for about 53 minutes total before the officials had to pull them off the court, suspending the match while it was still on serve.

When will Mubadala DC Open Pegula vs Eala finals start?

Tournament officials released a clear update to inform the fans and players about the new schedule. The official statement read: “Matches have been cancelled for tonight. The women’s singles final will now take place at 12:00pm tomorrow. The men’s singles final will take place not before 1:00pm tomorrow. Ticketing information to come soon.”

This means Pegula and Eala will walk back onto the court at noon on Monday (9:30 PM IST) to finish their second set and decide the champion.

Washington DC Open 2026 Men’s Singles Final

The severe storms did not just affect the women. The entire men’s singles final was also pushed back to Monday. This match features 10th-ranked American star Taylor Fritz and 19-year-old Spanish player Rafael Jodar. Fritz is looking to win his first ATP title since June 2025 at Eastbourne, while Jodar is hunting for his second trophy during a very impressive rookie year.

Because their match was supposed to happen right after the women’s final, they never even got the chance to warm up on Sunday. They will now play on Monday, not before 1:00 PM local time, right after the women finish.
